The composition of container number
Container number is the only one global identification mark of container. According to ISO6346, The Standard of Container Code, Identification and Marking in 1995, the container number consists by 11 digits, the first four are letters and the last one is the verification code. International Organization for Standardization (ISO) stipulates that there are two types of markers: necessary markers and optional markers. Each type of markers is marked separately and operation markers. Specifically, the numbers that conclude the owner’s code and container number or sequence number, check (verification) number are showed on container. The size and type code of the container is showed in the middle of the container door.
- The owner’s code.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) stipulates that the owner's code number is represented by four uppercase Latin letters, and the first three are specified by the owner himself, but the fourth letter is always specified by U, such as PCIU represents PIL's container, COSU represents China Ocean Shipping Co.'s container, etc. - Sequence number.
also called container number. It consists of six Arabic digits. If the number is less than six digits, we use number 0 to fill the six digits before the valid digits, such as 053842. - Check (verification) number.
the main code and sequence number of the box. Checking numbers is used to affirm the owner's code and sequential record whether it is accurate or not. It is after the box number and is represented by an Arabia number with a square frame. It is usually done without manual calculation as long as the input number is checked in the relevant software.
